A malicious program uses a router LED to steal data from a secure network – Penetration Testing

Researchers at the University of Ben Gurion in Israel have developed malicious programs that, when installed on a router or gateway, can control the LED lights on the device and use LEDs to transmit data to nearby attackers in binary format. An attacker can use video recording Device to receive data. Researchers have also found that the use of the target computer on the mechanical hard disk sound and hard disk lights and other methods to steal data on non-network equipment.

In the latest research, routers and gateways on the LED lights more, so stealing efficiency can be higher.

Researchers say they can steal data at a rate of 1000 bits per LED. The researchers also announced a video (Youtube) demo attack.
